About Red Turban Snails: A marine gastropod mollusk in the family Turbinidae. The scientific name Turbinidae is based on the genus name Turbo which is Latin for spinning top, just like the child's toy.This species is found along the coasts of the Eastern Pacific, from British Columbia, Canada, to Baja California, Mexico. It inhabits the low intertidal zone to depths of around 80 metres (260 ft), where it is found on rocks and giant kelp.
Location: Echo Harbour, Haida Gwaii – on the unceded territory of the Haida Nation. British Columbia, Canada.
