Hello 👋
Victoria is on a mission to erase the line between ocean and land, unifying these worlds through accessible scientific storytelling. She’s a multi-platform nonfiction writer, photographer, videographer, and content creator passionate about Pacific Northwest (PNW) marine science, modern and indigenous culture, and environmental and global philosophy.
Past writings on environmental tourism have appeared in National Geographic Luxury Traveller and Canadian Geographic magazines.
Victoria blends her background in journalism, biology, psychology, digital marketing, tech, and environmental philosophy to create educational, guilt-free stories. Her "refreshing" and "well-informed" work highlights how protection of Pacific Northwest coastal ecosystems can have positive knock-on effects for issues like food security, healthcare, immigration, mental health, social health, affordability, and the cost of living.
By pairing deep, rigorous research with engaging storytelling and "delightful" visuals, Victoria takes readers on an interconnected journey, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to rethink what they know and confidently share their newfound insights with others.
As a full-time sailor and diver, Victoria spends 365 days a year on and in the ocean. All her work is produced on location from her sailboat, Curio.

Professional Experience: a journey from content to conservation
-
Creative writing and photography came to me in my childhood as a way to digest and express how I saw the world. It was something I did for fun. I never imagined either as a career. Yet, despite my best efforts to pursue a very serious and more "adult" path, 6-year-old me has prevailed in pulling me full-circle.
Looking back, I'd say my "career" started in 2006 at a UK events and lifestyle magazine; but, drawn to the outdoors, I rapidly transitioned to sports journalism, traveling Europe to cover the professional snowboarding circuit.
As Web 2.0 emerged in 2008, I joined a top UK advertising agency creating copy and content strategy for clients like the UK Government, Unilever, and Royal Mail. Immersed in digital marketing, user-generated content, and social media, this was where I refined the ability to craft compelling short-form narratives.
A move to Whistler, Canada in 2010 finally blended my passion for the outdoors with storytelling. I founded an eco-tourism digital marketing agency, and my work has been featured in National Geographic Luxury Traveller, Canadian Geographic, and Wander Magazine. I have also contributed written and visual content to campaigns for the world-renowned ski resort, Whistler Blackcomb, as well as the provincial tourism organization, Destination BC.
My education in psychology, biology, and human performance seeded a lifelong curiosity about the human experience and the systems we create. This influence led me to explore diverse fields, from a stint in the space industry learning about systems engineering from NASA ex-Chief Scientist Dr. Shelhamer to a pivot into operations management at Canadian tech company Shopify. These experiences have only strengthened my commitment to conservation.
Today, my work weaves together these experiences, bringing to life the often invisible ecology of the Pacific Northwest and exploring its tangible impact on our daily lives. -
